Managers who’ve been called out over racism, sexism in management styles

MANAGERS have been labelled out for their use of sexist, racist, and homophobic language to promote the business of their own organisation.

The term “Tranny” is used to refer exclusively to lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people.

It was created in the 1970s by the National Organisation for Marriage, which is one of the organisations that lobbied for the removal of the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy.

Critics said the term, which has been around since the 1940s, was used inappropriately and in a disrespectful way.

A group of managers have also called on the ABC to apologise for using “Trannies are not welcome” as part of its recent workplace diversity and inclusion campaign.

“We are all the same and we’re all trannies,” said one of those named in the ABC report.

“If you use a term that demeans us, then it’s not OK to use it.”

The ABC has been asked to clarify the ABC’s position and clarify the use of the word “trannie”.

The ABC can only confirm it has never used the word to refer in any way to LGBTI people and has no intention of doing so.

ABC managing director and head of business affairs, Tony Jones, said it was “disappointing that the ABC has chosen to use such offensive language to refer directly to an individual who is transgender”.

“We have to look at how we deal with the issues around the use and misuse of terms in this day and age,” he said.

Some managers are using the label in a different way, but many of them use it in a more positive wayThe ABC understands that managers and staff have raised concerns with management about using the name to refer only to LGBTIQ people, rather than referring to them as transgender.

The ABC asked management at several organisations what they would do if a manager or other employee was asked about using their gender in a derogatory way.

At some of the companies mentioned in the report, managers or employees have raised the issue with management and the ABC understands managers have not taken any steps to prevent managers or staff using the derogatory term.

However, the ABC can confirm some of those companies have responded in a manner which is respectful of the LGBTIQ community.

In the case of a management style that was criticised, management was asked to either clarify the term or to change it to reflect the context of the organisation.

At the ABC, the organisation has a zero tolerance policy towards discrimination and has a range of anti-discrimination policies which it enforces.

This includes anti-bullying, anti-racism and anti-oppression policies.

One of those policies states that it does not tolerate discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

A spokeswoman for the ABC said it would not comment on specific individuals but that management’s policies and practices are in line with those of their workplace.

She said: “We value diversity and we support equality and diversity.”
