In an interview with Next Big Vision, FPI chief executive officer, Matt Barrios, described the Trump campaign as a “cancer” in the city, and the New York Police Department as a threat to the city’s democracy.
Barrions also stated that he was surprised when Trump’s team refused to answer questions on the record.
“I have no doubt that we’ve got a team of political operatives in the Trump Campaign that have been behind these attacks,” Barriosa said.
“There is no question they are in on it.”
Barrios also explained why the Trump team would not provide a transcript of their interview with the author, and how the Trump staff would have to pay for an audio recording.
“They will have to get an audio copy of the interview to be able to prove what was said,” Barrieos explained.
Barriosa continued by stating that Trump was a “toxic” candidate for the presidency, and said that the Trump White House was also a threat.
“The people of New York will not be safe with a Trump Administration in the White House,” he said.
Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, meanwhile, stated that the New Yorkers were in for a “long, hard fight.”
She stated that Trump’s campaign would be the first major party nominee in the nation to be denied entry to the United States.
“I think the New Yorker’s going to take this to the Supreme Court,” Conway said.
Barrieos and Conway were joined by a host of other Trump campaign staffers and supporters who were also on the conference call.
Trump campaign manager Matt Barrieo speaks to reporters after meeting with Trump campaign manager and New York City Council member Vincent Viola at Trump Tower in New York, on March 15, 2018.
The New York Times reported on Monday that Trump has been “furious” with the city and its police force over the death of Eric Garner, the man who died after being arrested for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes on Staten Island.
“They’re going to be the new Nazis,” Barrioos said, referring to Trump’s supporters who are furious at the police department.
Barrioos also stated on the call that the NYPD’s tactics are unacceptable and that the city has been a target of protests and attacks from Trump supporters for months.
Barriaos claimed that the “political leaders” in Trump’s White House were a “criminal organization” and said the city is a “fear” of the Trump administration.
According to the New Jersey Republican, the city was under the “government’s control” during Garner’s death, and that it would be a “huge mistake” to allow the city to continue to operate under the Trump Administration.
Barrisos and his team have also repeatedly denied that the police were responsible for Garner’s arrest, and have said that his death was caused by an “incidental” altercation between police and protesters.
Barrios claims have been dismissed by the NYPD, and he has said that he is “disappointed” that the department is “still in control.”
“I am disappointed in the mayor and the police and the governor for allowing these tactics to continue,” Barriaos said.
